On the morning of July 3, Gao Huaizhu, member of the Development Strategy Advisory Committee of the Business School and professor of Cornell University, visited the School to provide strategic advice for the School’s high-quality development. The School’s leadership team, academic leaders and dean's assistant attended the meeting, which was presided over by Zhao Laijun, dean of the Business School.

Zhao Laijun awarded Gao Huaizhu the letter of appointment as a member of the Development Strategy Advisory Committee. During the meeting, Zhao Laijun gave an overview of the Business School in terms of its history, organizational structure, faculty team, discipline construction, professional degree education, internationalization process, scientific research, talent cultivation, think tank building, and social services.

Ma Liang, academic leader of Management Science and Engineering as well as System Engineering, introduced the development of the discipline; Gao Yan, academic leader of System Science, introduced the development of System Science. Vice Dean Zhang Zheng emphasized the development of graduate education and the achievements of the Professional Degree Education Center. Vice Dean Zhao Jing highlighted the undergraduate programs and majors’ development of the School.
Meanwhile, Gao Huaizhu gave insightful strategic advice on the School’s development layout, talent cultivation, discipline & major development, scientific research and professional degree education. He suggested that the Business School should further optimize its disciplines and majors, actively leverage the synergy between the Systems Science, Artificial Intelligence majors and other programs to facilitate interdisciplinary business education, to improve students’ innovation capability and competitiveness, and to create a favorable Digital Research Environment for students and faculty. He also mentioned that the School should clarify its development direction, upgrading its featured discipline system via enhancing interdisciplinary business education as well as building high-level scientific research platforms, and then achieve the goals of promoting the exchange and integration of research ideas, and further improving scientific research work.

This meeting generated valuable ideas for the School to make breakthroughs in discipline construction and talent cultivation. With the professional suggestions received, the School will create practical implementation plans, which will lay a solid foundation for future development.
[Related] The USSTBS established the Development Strategy Advisory Committee on March 5, 2023. Its members include academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, experts and scholars in the field of management, and experts from industries.
